Mr. Duterte takes the Philippines to China: Goodbye America?

The Philippines is America's oldest treaty ally in Asia. Its bases and ports are key building blocks in the United States attempt to encircle China militarily. But now the Philippines' President has gone to China and announced the Philippines is separating from America! What's going on here?

To complicate matters the Philippines still has military links to Japan, a close U.S. ally, and insists its commercial relationship with America will not be affected by this China courtsip. So is it a divorce or separation.
